I couldn't resist. This is too funny.

My Vocal range

I think I'm trying to sing notes that are too high for me.

My range- Low A (Guitar's A string) to high E (Guitar's high E string.)

A good song for my range is Fleet Foxes' Meadowlark.

"G T F O" new lyrics!

I think I have found a lyrical voice. Maybe. Today I wrote a song called "G T F O", and even though I wasn't satisfied with the music, I liked the lyrics.

"You heave your ten-dollar heels
Crack down the middle of my window shield
Looks like the world's been split in two
There's one for me and one for you

It's just like you to leave me guessing
Are you really this mad or are you just PMSing?
Forty K car, ten buck shoes
I don't need no more abuse

G T F O
You still found room for anger
G T F O
Get out of here
G T F O
Your perfume's stench still lingers
G T F O
Get out of here

Next morning you give me a ring
Apologizing for everything
Your crocodile tears used to win
But now they slide right off my alligator skin

You thought I would never say goodbye
You knew I hated to see you cry
Cry me a river and drift away
Guess there ain't much more to say

G T F O
You still found room for anger
G T F O
Get out of here
G T F O
Your perfume's stench still lingers
G T F O
Get out of here

I wish you would just disappear
Or take a spaceship out of here
I don't wanna be in the same biosphere as you"

The classic Super Mario 3 Speed demo

Enjoy!

I love speed demos!

I dunno. I just find them very entertaining. Below is a time attack of Majora's mask. Enjoy! (warning: two hours long)

Nostalgia and Space Jam

recently, my friends mentioned the soundtrack to the super-awesome 1996 movie Space Jam, which was an incredibly kickass movie back when I was eight. The longest-lasting legacy of the movie is most undoubtedly the soundtrack. R. Kelly's sappy, but beautiful ballad "I Believe I Can Fly" was a huge hit back in the day. The soundtrack was a snapshot of R&B in 1996.

All Night Long!

For some reason or another, I just couldn't sleep. I had some iced tea with dinner last night, but not even very much. My mind went through an array of thoughts and obsessions. I started searching up random rock bands. I found out Larry Bird was a successful coach for the Pacers for three seasons from 1998 to 2000. He even led his team to the finals. Why didn't he stay coaching? Will he return to coaching? I explored some of my old artist names. I'm thinking about returning to "Supreme World Emperor" so I claimed the artist name on Last.fm.

I have an Astronomy test tomorrow, and I need to read Paradise Lost. Today I drank black, unsugared coffee and woodshedded on guitar for two hours. I have another two hours until my first class, so I might do some more...

World Water Day

Today is world water day, so I guess I'm supposed to bring attention to the approximately 1 billion folks out there that don't have clean water.

Yup. A billion.

The fact of the matter is, we need to change how our charity systems work.

Think about how many people gave a shit when that Caylee girl got lost. We care more about her than the starving billions in third world country because the media brought so much attention to it.

We submit money and food, water and supplies, and that's where we lose track of it. We don't know which child is getting it, or if any child is getting food at all.

We should film individual kids and show which areas are getting food and water and which ones aren't.

And when they deliver the food and water, they should get the families to shout "Thanks, _____!" while holding up their individual supply packages.

I would be touched if I saw the water bottle I donated in the hands of children that need it. I would feel great. And I don't think I'd be alone.

Giving really does feel good, but it doesn't feel nearly as good if we don't get to see the receiving end. With technology expanding every day, we need to make this happen.

Why didn't we just stomp on Ty Lawson's toe?

LSU lost big to North Carolina, which is a bummer. LSU had a 5-point lead in the second half, but then UNC got on a roll to beat us by 14 points. Ouch.

I watched the game in the union. I tried eating some rally breadsticks, but I ended up slamming the breadstick box on the table (actually pretty loud!)

My bracket took a nosedive. I'm now 27 out of 40, good for last in my group. Nice.

I went to see Akon because it's groovin' on the grounds, and as it turns out, he sucks. Damn.

Might as well sit here and write some lyrics.

Mario Party Party

Wednesday, I decided Friday was the day I would host Mario Party Party I at my apartment.

Friday: I text all LSU friends: Mpp 2nite. Victor was already in on it. Steven is coming, and Jordan is too.

4:00- Cleaning the apartment. There's trash everywhere. My blessed Scotch-brite sponge (you know, the yellow and green ones) gets the job done.

5:30- To the grocery to get snacks. I've been slipping on my diet lately, but I still grab some Mission tortilla chips (the best), Herdez salsa (the best) and a liter of Dr. Pepper. I also get some Paper plates, red party cups and paper towels.

It's Friday in Lent, and I'm Catholic. I can't eat meat.

7:00- Damn, I'm fat, I realize, so I go to the Union to grab dinner and pass time.

Fabian is there, so I pass the word on MPP.

Fuck it, I'm getting an ice cream sandwich.

8:00- Impatiently, I crack open a cold one from my fridge.

8:50- some girls (Tim's friends) scream from their balcony that they are coming to my party.

9:00- Jon, Jordan and Adrian are here. Adrian will be my apartment-mate next year, and Jon's moving to ECA as well, so they take a tour around. They are both drawn to my Gibson SG Standard I got for Christmas.

9:10 Jordan leaves for something, and Steven, Tim and D-Rob arrive. Mario Kart 64 gets going. I always race as Bowser. I won Bowser's Castle for the first time ever.

9:30 D-Rob is playing on my guitar, Fabian arrives, and I realize I don't have nearly enough food. Victor calls and he needs a ride over. Jordan is friendly enough to go and get him over here.

10:00 The girls arrive, and Steven chases them off. I'm on my fourth beer.

10:30 We're playing Pokemon Snap.

11:00 Finally, everyone is here. We divide up into 4 teams of 2.

After 5 rounds, I freeze the game while jumping over the cords. I didn't trip over the cords, but the astounding force of my landing made the game jump.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. I actually start screaming "Fuck fuck fuck!" for a second.

I just killed the party. Tim, Adrian, D-Rob and Jon decide to leave. Which leaves Steven, Victor, Jordan and me.

Unfazed, I start up a 20-rounder for us. I'm Donkey Kong. Jordan is Yoshi. Steven is Peach and Victor is Luigi.

Steven leaves after about seven rounds and Victor picks up Steven's control.

12:30 Jordan wins, and I call the party a success. The two of them help me clean up, and we call it a night.

Lyrics to "All In Your Head"

Last night you caught me staggering drunkenly home
next morning you called me up on the telephone
you said I was looking like a hobo
looking like a dead squirrel
looking like a piece of shit
looking at another girl
looking at a firefly
looking at the night sky
looking at my fat feet
puking in the back seat

but it's all in your head, it's all in your head
all in your head, it's all in your head
all in your head, it's all in your head, yeah (x2)

Last night you caught staggering drunkenly home
which is funny cuz I was sitting at my apartment all alone
you must have been trippin' on acid
trippin' on a mushroom
trippin' on the sidewalk
trippin' in your bedroom
trippin' on a staircase
trippin' on your shoelace
trippin' on your fat feet
trippin' in the backseat

cause it's all in your head it's all in your head
all in your head, it's all in your head
all in your head, it's all in your head, yeah (x2)

you just lookin' at your fat feet
ridin' in the back seat (x8)

Last night you caught me staggering drunkenly home
and now you're packing up
gassing at the Texaco
going to New Mexico
going to Jamaica
going to Jerusalem
going to Nebraska
going to the airport
don't forget your passport
write me a post card
you're gonna join the coast guard
gonna be a porn star
gonna be a dancer
find the nearest Waffle House
find the cure for cancer
working on the silver screen
working at the Dairy Queen
find a new direction
don't except rejection
don't get close to power lines
don't step in quicksand
pilgrimage to Mecca
pilgrimage to Graceland
follow the North Star
follow your instincts
follow your fat feet
live in the backseat

'cause it's all in your head, it's all in your head
all in your head, it's all in your head
all in your head, it's all in your head, yeah (x4)

I demand new Perfect Hair Forever NOW!

I wish I could embed. Here's a link. A rather cute advertisement for Coca-cola runs prior to it.

I don't even watch anime. This shit is hilarious. For me at least. It's one of those things that you either love or hate. I love this, and there's only seven episodes. As Wayne and Garth would say, "Denied!"

It's absurdist. I was thinking about showing my Dad, but I don't think he'd get it. Nor would any of my friends beyond a certain few. I can't really push you to watch it. You have to click the link with some curiosity and an open mind. I don't know what it is, but a hot dog that goes "doo la la la la la la" can send me on a lollercoaster.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Enjoy.

I BEAT IT!!!

I beat Super Mario 64! (with 70 stars, not 120.)

Time for some Celebration!

dammit, I can't embed.

Celebration

Here's another Kool and the Gang song I'm not afraid to say I like.

Get Down On It

Sunday, March 15, 2009

I edited "All in your Head"

per Taylor Morris' suggestion. I took out a good chunk of the "All in your head, all in your head"'s so it doesn't drag as much. The song has been shortened from 5 minutes to a little more than 4 minutes, which is good.

NEW SONG!

"All In Your Head"

Check it out on my last.fm

LINK to awesomeness

Lyrics

It's raining right now, which sucks. Weather has a way of factoring into my mood. If it's cloudy and dreary, I can't be all the way happy, whereas if it's really sunny outside, I feel alive and vibrant. I've written a lot of my best songs when it was sunny outside.

I have a song in the works for my first album on my tiny little label King Meerkat Records (named after an extremely old song of mine). It's called "All in my Head" for now, and it doesn't have lyrics yet. I always have a hard time writing lyrics because I don't know what to write about. I'm either forcing it too hard, or I'm not forcing it and the words are stupid anyways.

The chorus is easy.

"All in my head, it's all in my head/
All in my head, it's all in my head/
all in my head, it's all in my head, yeah."

And I'm happy with it. But it needs more. What's in my head exactly?

There are some songs that are really good and barely need any lyrics at all. Check out this song by the Stone Roses. There's a long fade-in, so if you can't hear anything, wait a little while.

"I don't have to sell my soul
he's already in me.

I wanna be adored."

That's the lyrics.

The music's so awesome that it barely needs any words at all. I'm not sure if the song I'm working on can afford that luxury, unfortunately. I just need to think it through some, I guess. Or not. Or something.

LSU Wins! LSU beat Kentucky!

I was able to catch the second-half after Astronomy. LSU held Jodie Meeks to just 8 points. Geaux Tigers!

LSU will face the winner of the Mississippi State-South Carolina game tomorrow.

I really like this song

One of the best basslines in history.

Enjoy it before the WMG whacks it.

The song is about loneliness and masturbation, and I connect with it because those are two things that really dominated my life prior to my senior year in high school.

Music news: New JRH album on the way?

Perhaps. I have a list of songs that are either completed songs waiting to be recorded or new ideas that need lyrics. I'm ditching sludge and getting back into pop, this time with a folk lean.

40 stars!

I just earned 5 more power stars, so that makes 40 stars! I need 50 to enter the next Bowser area.

Also, lime and shrimp ramen is awesome.

*sigh*

I'm doing laundry, and I realized that I'm out of fabric softener sheets because everyone in my apartment has been using my sheets. Damn.

Oh well, that's just the way it is.

Some things will never change.

Mario Party Results

I played a 20-rounder of Mario Party with my British apartment-mate Sam (Yoshi), his fellow Brit Matt (Wario) and their friend from the Rugby team Pete (Mario). I played as DK.

1st place: Sam (6 stars)
2nd place: Matt (2 stars)
3rd place: me (1 star)
4th place: Pete (1 star, fewer coins than I had)

I was also rocking some Super Mario 64. I got a star just by talking to some random Toadstool. Pretty nice. Anyways, that brings my star total up to 35.

Only two more months of private composition instruction!

Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay!

Unfortunately, I need ten minutes of music for the semester, and I only have three minutes completed. Boo.

Good morning!

Well, I managed to get up early

and I'm getting work done too. And I'm somehow getting a wireless signal from my living room. Today is going to be a good day.

Super Mario 64

I've been tearing through the game. I beat Bowser twice and I have 34 Power Stars. I also got no work done. Oh well.

I have to make a promise to myself to get up early and get everything done. It's hard to get up at 6 when your first class is at 10:30.

And now, for no reason whatsoever, Nanerpus.

Seriously, Denny's dude. Take your "serious breakfast" and cram it up your ass. I demand Nanerpus be sold at Denny's everywhere.

Turtles can make noise?!?!?!?!?!?!?

(Warning: includes turtle penis)

Super Mario 64

I have had an N64 for years, but no Super Mario 64. Most folks told me my collection was not complete, and having been a fan of other mario games, I agreed. I finally filled that void today. It came in the mail, and I played it for 15 minutes and earned my first Power Star by beating the big bomb dude on the hill. Cool! I'll be updating my progress on Super Mario 64 as I go.

James Read Hunter Sings: Planet Unicorn Theme Song (Acoustic)

This is from a long while ago. Just search "Planet Unicorn" if you are confused.

Weight loss progress, plus a shoutout to Nick Elward

Last week, I met my end of February goal of 234.9. My new goal is to be 229.9 by the end of March.

The hardest part of losing weight is not getting discouraged, but at the same time, reminding myself that I'm still fat and I still have a ways to go.

I want to make a shoutout to Nick Elward. Dude has been making some awesome music lately, and he has a Zappa-esque album near completion called Mother Leper. I need to make more music.

Check out Nick's stuff at Last.fm here:LINK
Search "James Read Hunter" on Last.fm and you can hear my music, too. Cool!

I get around

I really like this song.
