New post, for once.

Slambo II is done recording, and is now undergoing mixing. Nick is actually swinging by tonight so I can lighten his load and mix a few of his songs.

Here's a possible tracklisting for Slambo II:

1. April
2. Consumed
3. Dance With Me (This title is not official yet)
4. Dragonkin
5. The Dog Song
6. Floating
7. Carjacker
8. Never Doin' That Again
9. Sing Me a Lullaby
10. Dead Cows

The album will be released online at last.fm, but I also want to make some physical copies to sell, with liner notes, jewel case, all that. When that's done, I know you'll want to buy one.

I'm actually drawn back to this blog because of my friend Tim's new blog:

I am happy to pronounce myself a member and supporter of Generation Wi$e. It's time to change the clueless culture of my generation. Let's go!

Artist of the moment: k. d. lang

K.d. Lang - Pullin' Back The Reins (Official Music Video) - Watch more top selected videos about: K.d._lang

Some unknown country songwriter came out of the closet as a lesbo a few days ago, claiming to be the first country artist to do so. Sorry, Chely Wright, but you're about two decades late. That title goes to spiky-haired wonder k. d. lang.

I hope that country fans continue to ignore this Chely boob and instead, reclaim this amazing vocal talent that they kicked out to pasture once they found out that she wasn't that into dudes (like it wasn't obvious, you know, with the short hair and cowboy suits). But I think that it should no longer be uncool for guys like me to enjoy the music of an unhot lesbian like her. Why? Because she can belt 'em real good.

On second thought...

I think I want to go back to World of Hunter again.

You see, I tried to start a World of Jrlz at WordPress, but it set it up at Jrlz's blog, which is uncool, and then it started being a bitch to me. Well, I'm back to World of Hunter, which is where I belong. Yay!

I do want to start blogging again. I don't know why I stopped. I think the world can be burdened by my thoughts, like how I'm never going clubbing with Michelle Wolf ever again.

"Listen, as soon as we enter, we split, because I don't want you cockblocking me".

Translation:

"You're ugly and fat, and I would look uncool with somebody ugly and fat."

But I did go to Fred's. Alone, for no reason other than I'm a dumbass. There was this girl in my Modern Philosophy class there. The exchange went something like this:

Blonde Philosophy Slut: Hey, I know you. (laughs) I'm drunk.
Me: Wanna get drunker, babe? (trans: I'll buy you a drink, but not an expensive one)
BPS: haha no (trans: fuck off, I need to slut on somebody else)

I know, I know. I'm so smooth. I think the only girl I really talked to was this middle eastern chick who was actually 25. At least, she was the only person who saw me as a guy and not somebody in their way. Maybe I arrived too early. Maybe I arrived too late. I went alone, and sadly, I left alone too.

I'm starting to think that food migrates towards me. Yesterday, I ordered a double cheeseburger combo from McDonald's. They threw in a free double quarter pounder because they had made an extra one.

Maybe it's always been that way. Maybe I've always received slightly bigger portions by accident. Maybe the food I had was just a little more fattening than others. Maybe the world just wants me to be fat. I don't know, but it's fun to say it isn't my fault.

I have German homework to do. Exams are in one week. I'm the kind of guy that thrives under pressure, but right now, there really isn't any pressure, and I can't get anything done.

Maybe blogging will help.

My Dearest?

I hate waiting

Maybe I'm too impatient, but there's nothing I hate more than waiting around for people. I've been recording my new album at my friend's place (he's got a nice studio set up), and he hasn't been answering his phone.

I've been thinking about my history as a musician, and how much time I've wasted waiting around for people who are busy all the time. I've found it hard enough finding people who are willing. It's even harder to find people who are available. And then they have to be competent, etc.

Starting bands shouldn't be this frustrating. I just want to have fun, after all.

Thugs suck

If you are reading this post and you happen to be a thug, kill yourself.

Link to Advocate video

There is a popular video circulating around Baton Rouge that documents thugs doing thug things like shooting AK-47s in the air, bullying people, dealing drugs, doing drugs. It's called "Thuggin' It and Lovin' It", and it saddens me at the dilapidation that still haunts dozens of neighborhoods around Baton Rouge and South Louisiana.

The new claim is that it's staged, and it has actors. That claim isn't helped by the fact that the video does not credit its actors and that almost all of the local residents interviewed claimed it was either real or really accurate. Either way, it's not cool.

The film, "Millionaire Entertainment" claims, is to promote some rappers and a record label. I would love to be represented by a label with so much class.

This video is an embarrassment to the city of Baton Rouge, and for the love of God I hope Mayor Kip Holden makes a stand against it.

Pixar's Ratatouille

I saw it last night.

Truly a brilliant film. It doesn't try to wow us. It tells a simple, charming story, and it tells it convicingly.

It may have been the most faithful portrait of the perfectionist chef with the furious muse, and it's a CGI rat.

One thing I like about Pixar is that it usually doesn't grab huge names to voice its actors like Dreamworks does. When you watch one of those films, you're not listening to the character. You're listening to Jack Black, or Angelina Jolie, or Eddie Murphy or Justin Timberlake.

Ratatouille doesn't have big-name voices because the character is more important, and it's the character they want to sell, not the actor.

It's a cute film. I was very impressed with the physical comedy (Linguine's clumsiness never gets old because they don't draw it out too much.) Pixar's attention to detail is outstanding. They did their homework, consulting with chefs everywhere to make all the details correct.

This is an excellent film. Go see it. Pixar hasn't made a bad film yet.
